And now the time for the infamous chemotherapy had arrived. I would be having the folfox regimen of chemo. The first treatment was scheduled. Each session would last about 2 hours and I would go in every other week. At the end of each treatment, I would be hooked up to a pump that would continue pumping the medication into my bloodstream for the next two days. My treatment would be on Wednesdays and then I would carry the pump with me 24/7 until Friday when I would go back to Richfield to have it removed. Those 2 or three days were the worse as far as not feeling well was concerned. Then for the next week or so, I would not feel the best either. I would be tired all the time and ache and be just sick. My stomach was always in pain and I made multiple trips to the bathroom every hour. Then, with about 3 days left before my next dose of folfox I would feel a bit better. That’s how it was for most of the 6 months. Many times during these days, I got down and wondered, "Why?".
I hope you have enjoyed this episode of Healing. Please feel free to join me each week for the next 2 or 3 months, and hopefully, I can help you or someone you know become a stronger cancer warrior. Share this musical podcast with your friends and family. Cancer needs to be put in its place!
